ReVenture Park now controls an additional 578 acres of residential land that wraps the site. This brings the total project size to 1, 245 acres which will include a proposed mix of residential, retail, office and industrial spaces.
The vision for the new housing component is to create a community where sustainability is ingrained into people’s lifestyles and is part of the fabric of the community. Forsite is interviewing land-planning firms that will help craft a comprehensive vision plan for the eco-district.
Forsite has partnered with UNC Charlotte Urban Design Program to establish the initial Design Principles and research established European eco-districts.
Key planning principles will include renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, natural area protection, community gardens, extensive trail connections, water conservation, and recycling.
“There will be a heavy focus on open space and protected natural area. Forsite will be expanding the conservation easement and greenway areas and many of the homes will back up to natural space connected with trails. The sites proximity to the U.S. National Whitewater Center also offers great appeal to outdoor minded homebuyers.”
